Price calculators
Build price checkers from your bins so a host can tap in what is on the table and read off the price to ask, mid-stream, on a computer or the iPhone app.

What a price calculator is for#
In the middle of a stream a host often has to put a price on a bundle on the spot: two blankets and a pillow, say. A price calculator answers that. An admin builds one with the items the host might sell and what each costs; the host taps in what is on the table, and LASI shows the price that still makes your target profit after TikTok's cut.
The price is worked out like this:
Cost of the items
$18.00
Target profit
$10.00
1 − fee %
0.94
Price to ask
$29.79
Where $29.79 goes
Price to ask = (cost of the items + target profit) ÷ (1 − fee %). With $18 of items, a $10 target and a 6% fee, that is $28 ÷ 0.94 = $29.79. At that price, TikTok takes $1.79 and you keep $10 over cost.
The web and the iPhone app use the exact same arithmetic, so a host who switches devices mid-show reads the same price to the cent.
Who can build and who can use them#
| Role | What they can do |
|---|---|
| Admin | Build, edit, publish, share and delete calculators (on the web, and build new ones on the phone). Sees every calculator, including drafts. |
| Manager, host, staff | Use the calculators an admin published to them, under Calculators. |
| Customer service | No calculators. |
Building is admin-only because a calculator carries what your items cost.
Building a calculator#
Admins
Open Settings → Shows → Price Calculators → Manage (or Calculators → Manage in the sidebar under Tools) and press New calculator.
- 1Give it a Calculator name, for example "Bedding — Aug 2026".
- 2Set the Platform fee and the Target profit per sale (starts at $10.00). The fee starts at what TikTok has been charging your shop on item sales, or at your TikTok fee rate until enough orders have settled.
- 3Under Items, press + Pick from inventory and search your bins and barcoded items (for example "queen blankets"). Tap one to add it: it brings its own name and cost. Items already on the calculator are marked Added.
- 4To add something that is not in inventory, press Type one in and enter an Item name and Unit cost.
- 5Reorder items with the up and down arrows, rename any line, or remove it with the ✕.
- 6Check the One of everything preview: the cost of one of each item and the price to ask for it.
- 7Choose who sees it (next section) and press Create calculator.
Where the costs come from
- A bin brings its current cost per unit — the cost of the next unit you would sell from it.
- A barcoded item brings the average cost of its units in stock.
- Only bins with stock are offered. A sold-out bin's cost is the last unit that left, not what you will pay next time, so it is left out and the picker says why.
Publishing and sharing#
Admins
In the Publish section of the calculator:
- Draft or Published. A new calculator starts as a draft, which nobody but admins can see. Unpublishing hides it immediately.
- All employees shares it with everyone who can open Calculators. Untick it to tick named people from your team instead.
- Show item costs to employees is off by default: hosts see the price, total profit and fee, but not what each item cost. Tick it to show them.
Press Save changes. From the list you can also Open, Edit, Duplicate or Delete a calculator. An existing calculator shows Recent opens: who has had it on screen and when.
Using a calculator during a show#
Everyone except customer service
Open Calculators (in Tools on the sidebar for admins and managers) and pick one. You only see the calculators published to you.
- 1Tap + beside each item on the table (and − to take one off). Tapped items are highlighted.
- 2Read Sell for. It follows your target automatically.
- 3Below it: the profit at that price (green when it meets your target, amber below it, red when you would lose money), the margin and the profit per unit.
- 4Press Clear to start the next bundle.
Changing the price by hand
- Drag the slider to try another price, or press − and + to move it a dollar at a time. The profit updates as you go.
- Back to target snaps the price back to the one that hits your target exactly. While the price follows the target, the button reads On target.
- Recent shows the prices you settled on lately. A price is kept once it has sat still for a couple of seconds with items tapped in. Tap one to use it again.
The footer shows the Units, Cost (a dash if costs are hidden from you) and Fee in dollars.
Your own fee and target
The Fee · Target button at the top opens Platform fee (%) and Target profit ($). What you set is saved for you on that calculator only and does not change it for anyone else. Reset to calculator defaults puts back the admin's numbers. Item costs can only be changed by an admin.
Why costs do not change on their own#
When you pick a bin, its cost is copied at that moment. Restocking the bin at a new price later does not change the calculator. That is on purpose: a host's prices should never shift in the middle of a show because someone received a delivery.
So the calculator tells you how old its costs are: the host sees "Costs updated 3d ago" at the top.
When an admin opens the calculator to edit it, each line picked from a bin names that bin, and if the bin's cost has moved since, it shows the new number with use it, for example "now $6.40 — use it". Tap it to take the new cost, then Save changes. Nothing updates until you do.
Calculators on the iPhone app#
Open Menu → Calculators. The list shows the calculators published to you and when each was last updated. A calculator opens on a dark screen built for one hand at the set.

- Tap items in with the steppers; Sell for and Profit are the big figures at the bottom, with the profit per unit under it.
- Drag the slider to try a price; tap Target to snap back to the target price.
- The fee and target button opens a small window with PLATFORM FEE % and TARGET PROFIT $, saved for you like on the web.
- Recent: chips bring back prices you settled on.
Building a calculator on the phone#
Admins
Admins can build a new calculator right at the set: on Menu → Calculators, tap +.
- 1Type a name.
- 2Set the fee and target. The fee starts at what TikTok has been charging your shop, as on the web.
- 3Tap Pick a bin and search your bins and items (Done when finished), or Type one in.
- 4Check the Ask preview.
- 5Leave Published on for your team to open it now, or turn it off to keep it as a draft.
- 6Leave Everyone on to share it with anyone who can open Calculators.
- 7Tap Create calculator.
A calculator built on the phone is exactly the same as one built on the web.
Common questions#
My host says they have no calculators.
The calculator is either still a Draft, or it is not shared with them. Open it under Settings → Shows → Price Calculators, set it to Published, and tick All employees or the host's name.
I restocked a bin. Why is the calculator still using the old cost?
Costs are copied when you pick the item, so a show's prices never change on their own. Edit the calculator, tap use it on the lines whose bin has moved, and save.
My bin does not appear in the picker.
Only bins with stock are offered. If the bin is empty, restock it first, or use Type one in with the cost you expect to pay.
Why is the profit amber?
The price is below the one that makes your target profit, but you would still make money. Red means you would lose money. Press Back to target to snap back.
The host changed the fee on their screen. Did that change it for everyone?
No. The fee and target a host sets are saved for them only. Reset to calculator defaults puts back the calculator's own numbers.
Can the host see what each item cost?
Only if Show item costs to employees is ticked. Otherwise they see the price, total profit and fee, and the Cost figure shows a dash.
Can Claude build a calculator for me?
Yes. With changes allowed, Claude can build, edit, publish and share calculators using the same rules as this screen. See Ask LASI, and LASI with Claude.
